I am writing to you as Rochdale fans to urge you to do your best to support this year's Christmas Draw.

Most of you have been fans for a long time and you know that we can't rely solely on our gate receipts to keep a league football club going. We are grateful that we have a successful Goldbond scheme and we rely on the Christmas Draw each year to give our finances a boost.

This year we want to make sure the Christmas Draw is our most successful ever. The team have put together our best ever draw with some fantastic prizes. The winner will get £1000 and one lucky ticket holder will have a great Christmas with a £250 hamper. There are also season tickets and other football related prizes to be won!

The money raised from these one-off lotteries makes such a big difference to the club and the funds that we can invest in the squad. I am therefore asking you to do all you can to sell these tickets to your families, friends and work colleagues. The prizes are great too. I know that we ask our fans to do a lot for the club but without the fans there would be no club. I am proud to be manager of this football club and the players are proud to pull on the shirt and represent you.

So I am asking you to do your best and sell your tickets. We know that the credit crunch means that times are hard, but if you can sell them down in the pub, at work, amongst your family and friends it can make a big difference.

Each draw ticket has some value even if you don't win. Keep your tickets because each one is worth money off at KFC in the New Year. And if you can sell more than 20 tickets, please ask for more. The more you sell, the greater the chance we have to keep building our football club.

Pete Woodhouse, our lotteries manager, tells me that over 1000 envelopes have been sent out to supporters. He said to me: "Wouldn't it be great if every fan that gets an envelope sells £20 worth of tickets?" I told him to believe that they will.

Thanks, and Merry Christmas to you and your families.

Keith Hill

PS And if you do manage to sell all £20 of your tickets, you will get a £5 voucher to spend in the club shop as a thank you.
